When Biplab was in the second grade, he solved a Maths problem of his sister who was two years elder to him. His sister’s tutor was surprised but for Biplab it was the beginning of his romance with the subject. After completing his under-graduation he went to IIT Kanpur to pursue a Masters in Mathematics. He was awarded several fellowships from IIT Kanpur since he was the topper of his batch.

After his M.Sc. he went to Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where he completed his doctorate under the supervision of Prof Basudeb Datta. He was awarded the best thesis award in Mathematics at IISc.

Biplab did his post doctoral from Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore and Cornell University in the US. He returned back to India after he got the Inspire Faculty fellowship and worked in ISI Kolkata for 8 months. He joined IIT Delhi in January 2019.
