Constitution of the OBC Welfare Association/Cell.

IIT Delhi Competent Authority has approved the structure and mandate of the OBC Welfare Association/Cell as given below:

Mandate

  • To implement the reservation policy for OBCs in the Institute.
  • Implement reservation policies in respect of admissions, appointments to teaching and non-teaching positions.
  • To take such follow up measures for achieving the objectives and targets laid down for the purpose by the Government of India for reservation.
  • To implement, monitor and evaluate continuously the reservation policy and plan measures for ensuring effective implementation of the policy and programme of the Government of India.
  • To monitor the officials/faculty members from any act of discrimination against OBC students on grounds of their social origin.
  • To resolve if any such incident comes to the notice of the authorities, action to be taken against the erring official/faculty member promptly.
  • To constitute a committee to look into the complaints of discrimination received from the OBC Students/faculty member and non-teaching staff.

Functions of OBC welfare Cell

  • To circulate Government of India and Commission's orders and decisions.
  • To collect reports and information regarding the Government of India orders on the various aspects of education, training and employment of Other Backward Classes candidates, for evolving new policies or modifying existing policy by the Commission.
  • To analyze the information collected above and prepare reports and digests for onward , transmission to the Ministry.
  • To deal with representations received from OBC candidates regarding their admission, recruitment, promotion and other similar matters.
  • To monitor the working of the remedial coaching scheme, if approved by Competent Authority.
  • To look into the Grievances received from the OBC students and employees and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  • To maintain a register for employment of OBCs for the candidates belonging to OBC communities for various posts.
  • Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among the community suffering economic, social and education deprivations.
  • To sensitise the officials/faculty members of the institute to be more sensitive while dealing with incidents of caste discrimination.

OBC Welfare Associate/Cell looks into the Grievances received from the OBC employees/students and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.

Grievances can be filed/reported by an e-mail to obcwlfr@admin.iitd.ac.in. The grievance can also be submitted in hardcopy at the office of OBC Welfare Cell, IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, 110016.

The Grievances received by the OBC Welfare Association/Cell, or the Liaison Officer are addressed by the Committee of the OBC Welfare Association/Cell by involving all stakeholders. The Committee, after necessary action, submits its report to the Competent Authority for further action.
